I am not sure I am posting this in the right place, but I can't get back to all the places I brought this problem up and do the relevant correction/update
I feel I need to give all on the website an update on the Partquip Tie Rod kit
that has been getting a fairly bad rap from me and a few other members.
Today I had a meeting with some of the Partquip management which
included Craig who I think is the National Product manager. Even though
the feedback/response has been long overdue, they took the time to see
me today and check out Hillbilly.
It was confirmed that although Hillbilly does ride slightly higher than
normal on the torsion lift, the A arms and IFS is still standard. The
failing of the Tie rods are due to the rubbers being pinched on the one
side as it seem the ball joint becomes fully extended. This in turn
allows the dust and sand into the joint that just grinds it all to
pieces and self destructs.
They admit to having a problem, although not entirely sure what or
where it is that causes the rubber to be pinched. It could be the taper
bolt going to deep into the pitman or draglink and hence pinching.
Be that as it may, the fact remains that Partquip management has now
taken the time to start investigations and attempt a fix of this
problem.
I was impressed by the attitude to sort the problem out and the time
taken has included management actually coming to read the responses
here and on other sites I have commented on as well.
I hope to keep you updated with the progress of the fix to this problem.
Thumbs up to Partquip response and meeting of today, and looking forward to hearing from them soon with a solution.

It is a good indication that PQ are at least willing to look at the problem . The
fault, however, does not only lie with the rubber being pinched, but
also tie-rods that are not strong/robust enough for the application. I
have replaced many a tie-rod(including genuine Nissan parts) with the protective covers in tact, where
the joints were not only loose, but had had so much play in them, that
while driving, I had to turn the steering wheel more than half a
rotation either way to try and keep the vehicle going in a reasonably
straight line. Same occurs with their drag link. The Nissan
product is slightly better(not quite double the mileage), but the price I got quoted on the last lot, was ridiculous, and as far as I know
there is no other brand of tie-rod end on our SA market. In the meantime I have done a drag-link and tie-rod end mod, of witch I will soon post some pics.

There is a new product that Gavin (aka HotStuff) put on his Sani - Technorote or something like that - I will ask Gavin. He got rid of his Sani soon after so no verdict on the make. He found them in the back of some magazine - they are based here in the Cape in Montague Gardens - pricing is very cheap! They do tie rod ends and ball joints - and probably other stuff too!

Good for you BeeFree, if we don't bring problems to their attention they will never get any better and its great to hear that they made an effort to see your vehicle and have a think on it! We don't complain enough in RSA and have to tolerate inferior products and service. Let us know the outcome as it looks as though I am destined to replace parts again, although I guess we don't have much choice, Nissan parts or Partquip! Has anyone ever ordered spares from the states? Any good?

Apparently the guys there use a tie rod end by a manufacturer called Moog- they swear by the quality!

Porqpine, the milage issue is my main problem. I had the Sani for just over 2 years before I had to replace, and that after the previous owner had already done his thing with the car for I don't know how long. If the price dictates the service, then Nissan should not give you much more than 1,5 time the service.
That is the main concern of both the user and the manufacturer, the product is not much cheaper. The differance is that you can purchase the Tie Rods without the link tube, where Nissan sells it all as a unit.
Draglink is R780 for the PQ compared to R1300 for the Nissan part..
